Cannot create google._domainkey dns record

I'm attempting to create a TXT record google._domainkey on my domain. The system gives me an error saying their service provider is having trouble and cannot create the record.

If I remove the ._, it works fine.

I cannot create a subdomain of __domainkey because the system will not allow _ in the domain name.
